Children taking part in carnival

Stanford and Corringham Carnival

The second Stanford and Corringham Carnival takes place on Saturday 26th August. As well as all the fun and colour of the procession, the day also promises to be very special for one particular participant.

Stanford and Corringham Carnival
Start Date:26/08/2006
Start Time:13:30
Genres:Community, Kids & Family, Outdoors & Attractions
Venue Name:Stanford-le-Hope and Corringham

This will be the Stanford-le-Hope and Corringham Carnival Association's second procession through the streets of the two south Essex towns.

This year the charities to benefit from the day are the Lady McAddens Breast Screening Unit Appeal and MacMillan Cancer Care, with hopes high of beating last year's total of £1650.

The procession will set off from the Giffords Cross Open Space in Park Road, Corringham at 1.30pm and end at the Mobil Field in Billet Lane, Stanford-le-Hope.  There will also be a fete taking place on the Mobil Field from 1.30.

Having left Park Road the route will take in Springhouse Road, into Gordon Road and up to Southend Road. From there it will travel along Third Avenue and into Branksome Avenue, then heading along First Avenue and Dunstable Road and then back to Southend Road.

Having proceeded underneath the Manorway, the procession will head down Stanford-le-Hope Street High Street, turn left into Corringham Road, Rainbow Lane and finally Billet Lane.

The procession's special guest will be fourteen year old Megan Blunt.  Megan is currently in remission from bone cancer of the knee, and will be the procession's Honorary Princess, having always dreamt of being a princess for the day.
