Tell Dave your experiences of life in Essex

Tell Dave your experiences of life

Dave Monk

Join Dave every weekday morning from 9am for the chance to share your experiences of life with the people of Essex.

Many use BBC local radio as a starting point for their broadcasting careers, but  Dave regards it as an end in itself.

He's had a varied background; including owning his own firm of solicitors, a wine bar and bistro, run a disco and worked in nightclubs, as well as lecturing in law.

The Dave Monk programme is on-air every weekday morning between 9 and noon and gives the people of Essex the opportunity to share their experiences of life.

He also talks to local and national politicians, writers and celebrities - so many different people with so many different views!

More about Dave...

  • Dave grew up in Southend and is a Piscean

  • His first job saw him working in his parents pub

  • His first kiss was under a lampost, but "I'm too much of a gentleman to name names"

  • Dave's first car was a Bubblecar

  • The first record that he bought was 'something' by Grieg

  • His favourite places in Essex are numerous as he has "too many favourites.  Southend, because I was born there, Thurrock because people have such great humour and Heybridge Basin because it's so beautiful".

  • When he was young Dave wanted to be a Doctor, and reckons that if he didn't work in radio he would probably be dead!!

  • His most memorable BBC Essex moments are again numerous. "I once spoke to Anne Frank's half sister about her time in a Nazi concentration camp. I couldn't stop the tears, mine not hers".
