Beach ball rating

Frinton beach is a noncommercial seaside resort with clean sandy beaches and beach huts along the sea front.

Once you go through the gates in Connaught Avenue there is a straight drive or walk down to the sea front.
Frinton takes pride in the fact that there are no ice-cream kiosks around the beach area and therefore no litter.

People in the sea

Sea at Frinton

The resort is geared towards families who would like a quiet day at the beach and is suitable for young children as it is a clean safe environment. Many people like Frinton because it is not commercialised.

However, there are no traditional English seaside activities, so children after candy floss and fairground rides may be better off going to Clacton or Walton.

Frinton now flies a Yellow Flag Seaside Award for 2005. These awards are given to beaches that are clean, safe, well managed and with a quality water rating.

I love Frinton as it is uncommercialised, peaceful, litter free and not rowdy and great for a game of Tennis on the beach and a picnic! I have been going here for years.....(1.5 hours from Hertford)

Vinnie
We pick up after our dog, more than some humans do, we have seen beachs litterd with picnic remains and other litter frinton included, so why the dog ban?

Anne
It bothers me that irresponsible dog owners will arrive at the beach, realise dogs are banned, then leave the dog in the car. In warm weather this becomes a death trap in an incredably short time, even if the windows are open. Are the Councillors that ban dogs going to patrol car parks and rescue these dogs? No. On their conscience be it.

Charley
Frinton is great, clean beach, and lovely people

Pat Munson
We regularly go to Frinton and take our elderly Golden Retriever, so I do understand about people not wanting dogs on the beach in the summer, because of owners that do not pick up there dogs faeces, so fully understand that dogs are not allowed on the main beach during the summer months, thankfully though if you walk towards Little Holland one is allowed with a dog on the beach......But what about the horses that use the beach! I have NEVER seen a rider dismount and pick up after there horse! I just feel that we should all care, dog owners, children and riders to keep our beaches clean and a friendly environment to enjoy! Frinton is then one of the best!!!

Lily
Frinton is the best and we go there for a holiday every year coz wee love it that much.

malcolm mercer
Great that dogs are banned from the beach - pity it is not all year round. I was standing on the beach quietly looking at the sea, when a dog started barking at me. It was about a yard behind me!

Jess F
I was looking through websites to try and find some facts about Frinton, my mum and dad are taking us there today and I wanted to be prepared, this really helped me! Thanks!!

JOE !!
FRINTON IS WICKED !!!

I am a responsible dog owner who was looking for a beech to take my dog for a walk on. I can't believe how much a raw deal we get. It only takes one or two irresponsible dog owners to bring a tide of out cry about dogs on beeches. My dog is part of my family and I want her to enjoy her walk as much as me. I agree there are lots of obnoxious and bad behaving children and parents come to that, but they will never get banned. A beech is not for a selected type of family..it should be enjoyed by all..dogs included!

kath maldon
Oh come on - there seem to be a lot of anti-dog paranoid people around here, don't there? Yes of course responsible dog owners should pick up after their dogs, (and I do understand the health risks) but to completely ban dogs from main beaches in high season is just discrimination - it means that families taking a traditional UK holiday with their pet dog are often prevented from using the beaches at all as the 'dog stretch' on many seafront is narrow or only accessible at low tide. - Or the other alternative , dogs are locked up at home all day in hot houses on their own while their owners play in the sand. By the way - we never seem to ban families with obnoxious children from the beach or persons with anti social habits, do we? Boo hiss not fair

scattybird
i live in frinton and its fantastic, its like going back in time its still the same as it was over 30 years ago, just a shame dog owners are not as responsible as they should be!

jane
Sorry guys but dirty dogs on beaches no thanks. If people behaved responsibly it might be ok but they don't. I think it's no dogs between may and september thank goodness.

satty
good clean beach. it's got it charm with out it being tacky like others. keep itg going!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

simone
are dogs allowed on the beach ?

kim

J*a*s*o*n
could be better as parts of the beach has lots of stones and not good for walking on

Grace
Are dogs allowed on the beaches because as long as the dog is well traing then why does it matter? Overall though the beach is lovely and i like the fact that it is Non-comercial i hope that the good comment stay good and that the beach stays clen and welcoming...

Emily
I LIKE FRINTONE BEACH COZ IT IS FUN :)

Gabe and Paul Forrai
Fab beach we really love it, great walks along the lenght of the sea front, lovley a real English beach.

felicity faquah
no entertainment, no showers, no ice-cream parlour? frinton on sea no thank you!

Bernadette Litvinoff
Frinton beach is wonderful and litter free usually. I'm pleased they don't allow the usual tatty traders on the sea front. It would be even better if they banned dogs but nothing's perfect and that would simply antagonise dog owners. If only all of them would clean up after their dogs. I like the lack of loud music. Its peaceful and there are not many peaceful places left nowadays really.

John Best
I spent many happy childhood days,at both Walton and Frinton. While Walton has become more commercialsed, peacefull Frinton has remained almost as it was, thank goodness.

Kim
I'll stay in Frinton for seven days next week. I'm from Germany and it's a exchange of students just without the exchange. ;-)That means we are visiting the UK, but no British student is coming here.I'm so looking forward to get to know my host parents and... aww. I wanna go there. NOW!

frances
We are staying in Frinton overnight next Sunday, any tips on where to eat dinner? Can't find any restaurant reviews anywhere!

Madeleine Joyce Flowers
Have visited Frinton for the beach ever since my children were small, and that started about 43 years ago. The grandchildren have also been brought up to enjoy Frinton. It was great a couple of weeks ago to find some of the family with 5 teenage youngsters (eldest 18) playing on the beach just like younger children. They had even walked into Walton just to buy buckets and spades to dig sandcastles etc. My partner and I went to find them after we had lunch and they were in the same spot we've always been to. Only problem was getting out of the town at about 5 p.m. Took about half an hour! Nevertheless it's a great place and must never be spoiled by commerce.

ross
my mum has been taking me and my siblings to frinton for a couple of years now and it is the perfect beach and i love it

dave g
i'm 64 years old and visited frinton for the first time- boy what ive missed how i wished i'd taken my children when they were young but all is not lost i'm going to take the grandchildren - kids playing "like children" and everyone so friendly and polite- dont change frinton you really have something special to hold on to

jasmin ahmed

Carol
I was born in Tendring - have been going to frinton every summer for most of my 55 years! My son (20) and daughter (18) still like going there with friends. Its unspoilt charm is what makes it so popular. I was sad to learn that so many huts have been vandalised though!

Tayla Jackson
As a resident of Clacton i find visiting Frinton a refreshing change from the frenzied atmosphere of my home town. The clean sands and safe feel of the beach itself is perfect for a day out for me and my 8 children

Mandy Holland
I absolutley love the beach, but on going there this sunday i was a little bugged as it took us 1 Hour to drive up the main rd (Connaught Avenue) as there is a rail line and only one road crossing it. In total it took us 3 hours to get home instead of 1 hr 15 mins ... maybe this is the price we have to pay for going to such a lovely beach, but we won't be coming back for a while....

JANE BAUCH
MANY GREAT MEMORIES AS A TEEN.

I love Frinton, it is like discovering the most wonderful secret. A short train ride from London it has fantastic family beaches and a really non-commercial feel and the "green sward" make it a really special place.

Catherine
The best beach in the world! we often hire a beach hut down there for a week and i really hate it when the week is over! there is no beach like it! .. the water is shallow and the beaches aren't stoney at all! perfect!

Debbie Down
I spent a lot of time in Frinton when I was a young girl in the 1960's and I drive down there every so often to walk down the high street and on to the beach... I just love it, its wonderful, so relaxing and clean. Though I do remember being stung a couple of times by jelly fish when I went swimming!

micky burt

Fowles Family
We adore Frinton, so clean and friendly. Some lovely shops in the high street, beautiful clean sandy beach and the greensward to play on when the tide comes in. We come up from Southend because we can't compete with Frintons' fantastic beaches. Don't change!!

Abi Greenall
I think that frinton beach is clean and good for picnics i go evry year with a lot of friends. But i would like to know if you can bring dogs in the summer along the shore beds?
