"During the last two years not only has my work developed significantly but I have also given far greater attention to sharing my work with audiences, principally through local galleries. Completing a PG Certificate in Health and the Arts at Anglia Polytechnic University this year not only gave me greater exposure to the concepts of using the arts as a means of enhancing both personal and society's state of well-being but has also had an influence on my work."

Wakeford's latest paintings are a sequence of canvases that explore the relationship between naked trees and the inner-self. "An exploration that seeks to synergise the images created through the natural shapes of leafless trees with the organic structures that we are made of." Trees are a recurring theme in his work as is the use of natural structures, but studies into Health and the Arts have provided a different perspective, resulting in an investigation of the use of his work in health environments. The exploration of naked trees has culminated in a shift to paint actual trees and Wakeford has recently completed a number of projects including work at Hyde Hall Gardens in Rettendon. The common theme being to bring art into non-gallery settings, suprising the audience and engaging them to challenge their preconceived ideas over art and its function in society.
