Linda Gray teaches year four at Warley Primary School in Brentwood. She travelled to a school in Wariboga,Tamale in Ghana for a week with two organisations RAINS, an NGO that aims to improve lives in the northern regions of Ghana and Camfed, Cambridge based organisation that supports female education in Africa.

Linda raised money to take books and equipment to the school and taught some classes to introduce informal ideas to a formal teaching set up.

She also received support and advice from the Harambee Centre, which is a resource and education centre based in Cambridge to promote global understanding and citizenship. Harambee visited Linda at Warley Primary School with workshops for the children and staff.

She's hoping to set up a 'fair trade' arrangement with local people using locally produced batik cloth to make cards, which can be sold in the UK and money returned to the area. She's also hoping to raise money to fund a return visit by teacher from Wariboga to Warley Primary school.

Linda found that the people she met were inspired by the fact that she was older educated woman travelling independently.
