Leez Priory
In 1220, having travelled throughout England in a quest for the perfect location to found his monastery, Sir Ralph Gernon stumbled across the little hamlet of Leez in a dip by the banks of the River Ter and knew he need look no further.

His Augustinian Priory thrived for over 300 years, until Sir Richard Rich, sent by King Henry VIII, sacked the Priory and a short time later built his own Great House on the site today known as Leez Priory.

MAIN ENTRANCE

The mansion has stood for over 450 years and has been home to the Earl of Warwick. Its famous visitors include Queen Elizabeth I and Princess Mary.
