Grant Nicholas
from Feeder
Singer and guitarist Grant Nicholas (b. Newport,
Wales) formed rock outfit Feeder with former Temper
Temper bandmate Jon Lee. The pair had met in Cardiff,
playing together until the group fell apart, and
Grant left South Wales for London to embark on
a crash course in studio engineering. After completing
the course he dragged drummer Jon up to London
to form a new band, while supplementing his income
as a bike courier.
The pair were later joined by Japanese bassist
Taka Hirose, and began playing under the name
of Real. After signing to the Echo label later
that year, the trio changed their name to Feeder
and played their first gig in Yeovil, Somerset
on 25 May.
They released their debut Two Colours EP in November
1995, followed by six-track mini-album, Swim.
LP Polythene was released in 1997 and
the single High reached number 24 in
the UK chart. The band returned in March 1999
with a new single, 'Day In Day Out', followed
by 'Insomnia' and Yesterday Went Too Soon.
Anthem Buck Rogers became Feeder's biggest
ever UK hit, debuting at number 5 in January this
year.
Their most recent single Seven Days in the
Sun entered the Top 40 at number 14 on April
14th.
