Name: Becky.
Lives: London.
Financial situation: Owing around £12,000 on credit cards and loans.
Occupation: Clothes salesperson.
Biggest money wasters: Living an "executive" London lifestyle on less than an executive wage.
In the final programme of the series we met Becky. She's a Midlands girl who moved to London less than a year ago - keen to live the London high life.
Becky's job in a clothing store meant she was in her element - working in a place where designer labels were just seconds away, but her £19,000 per year just couldn't keep up.
She dressed herself in Prada and Gucci and admitted to loving it when other people were jealous of her goodies. But it wasn't just clothes Becky splashed out on - she had designer taste in cosmetics as well, which cost her around £1,500 in the last year alone.
Becky's parents Maureen and Tony found their daughter's spending horrific, and far from their own well controlled lifestyle. They would rather spend money on the house than themselves and have both had to work hard and save for everything they own. Their motto has been to have no debt, and if there wasn't the money to buy something - it wasn't bought.
Becky, on the other hand, wanted to spend, spend, spend and wasn't concerned about how she would afford next month's rent payment for her designer flat! Becky's live-in boyfriend Tom also found Becky's spending frustrating, but his concerns fell on deaf ears. She even wanted to trade in her "uncool wheels" to buy a new Mini.
Becky was running up huge credit card debts and her big spending ways were about to catch up with her.
Money matters
When Maureen and Tony moved into Becky's designer pad they were shocked to learn the debts amounted to around £12,000. Straight away the credit and bank cards were confiscated and Becky was told any money being spent had to be approved by mum and dad first.
Watch
the moment when the true extent of Becky's debt is revealed.
To try get their heads around Becky's spending whilst she was at work, Maureen and Tony called in Bank of Mum & Dad's expert Lawrence Gold, who was quick to pick up on Becky's overspending.
Becky's debts amounted to £1,500 on bank loans, £5,000 on credit card debts and £4,000 on student loans. She spent £355 per month on groceries and eating out, £160 on makeup and £525 for her share of the flash rent, yet her take home pay was only £1,100 per month. That left a monthly overspend of £600.
Maureen decided it was time to find out where Becky was wasting her money. A quick scan through the food cupboards found a lot of wasted food and fast meals, so it was time to head to the shops. Becky was given a crash course on how to save money and Maureen hoped that by showing Becky some alternatives to fast food, she would end up saving money each month. Also included were some quick cookery lessons, where a chicken meal was made for under £2 per person.
Maureen and Tony decided a daily "money diary" would help their daughter. Becky was told she had to list down everything she spent from then on, and although Becky wasn't keen on the idea she began to note down her spending.
One of Becky's other problems was her car. It was a hand-me-down from her granddad, which meant it wasn't cool, so Becky wasn't very keen on maintenance. Being lazy with the upkeep meant the car broke down rather a lot - mainly because Becky didn't bother topping up the brake fluid or oil.
Pressure's on
Maureen and Tony felt their shock tactics weren't sinking in as Becky kept justifying all her overspending. She was adamant she needed designer labels to look good, which Maureen found surprising.
So, it was time for some tough love. Maureen sent Becky to a professional make up artist to show her how she could make herself up on a budget. It seemed Becky was starting to see she didn't need to spend big bucks on looking good and that designer labels won't make her a popular person.
Tony dished out some tough love himself by giving Becky a few car maintenance tips. After making her check the oil and water levels it was out with the sponge and soap for a quick tub up.
But it wasn't just mum and dad who were getting tough. Lawrence Gold also joined the act. He gave Becky a shocking cash forecast - if she kept spending, as she was, for one more year her debts would total £20,000.
And so, Lawrence set Becky a new budget that would get her out of debt within five years. Her food budget was cut from £355 to £220, clothes and makeup came down from £205 to £130, £125 was set aside for debt repayments and then the bomb shell - Lawrence cut Becky's rent budget down from £525 to £360 per month.
Becky was told she had to move out of her expensive designer flat to enable her to pay off her debts quicker. It was a decision Becky didn't want to make, but Maureen grabbed the bull by the horns and took Becky and Tom out house hunting before leaving the pair to make some choices.
Update
Two months on and things are looking good for Becky. She has kept up with her spending diary and has stuck to Lawrence's budget. But the big news is that she has got a new job - in Birmingham, and is moving home with mum and dad so she can pay off her debts in just over two years time.
