Since
the BBC transmitted its very first local news programme "South
West at Six" in 1961 a host of presenters have gone on
to become national celebrities.
Sheila
Tracy was one of the first presenters in the early 1960's.
The programme started life as "South West at Six",
but later changed its name to "Spotlight South West".
A
young Hugh Scully presented the first colour edition of
Spotlight in 1974. He went on to present Nationwide and
the Antiques Roadshow.
Sue
King is still fondly remembered in the South West. She
co-hosted the programme for several years with Chris Denham.
Jersey-born
Russell Labey joined the programme
in 1990 and worked alongside Teresa Driscoll. He left
to further his career as a writer and theatre director.
Teresa
Driscoll left at the end of December 2005 to spend more
time with her family. Teresa had been with the team for
15 years.
