Exmoor also has many literary associations and part of the area is known as "Lorna Doone Country", named after the RD Blackmore novel. At the heart of Loona Doone Country is Malmsmead, where visitors can find Lorna Doone Farm, and nearby Oare House and Oare Church, where R D Blackmore's grandfather was once rector. Across Exmoor, there are many walking opportunities for ramblers and day visitors. Good starting points for information about walks are the visitor centres at Combe Martin, County Gate, Lynmouth, Dunster and Dulverton. |
