From
magnificent buildings to jaw dropping engineering feats, we look at the Seven
Wonders created by man and recommended by people living in the region. Rajesh
Mirchandani goes on a journey through the East Midlands where the canals, railways
and roads have contributed to the wonders of the region. Rajesh starts his
journey at Chatsworth, arguably the finest stately home in Britain, and explores
a side to the estate most of us don't tend to see. From there he goes to
the canal at Foxton Locks in Leicestershire where a remarkable piece of engineering
has created a unique staircase of 10 locks to connect two parts of the country. Then
it's on to a subterranean man-made world in Nottingham
a city which sits
above hundreds of man made caves hewn out of the sandstone. There's also
a few surprises on the way from a whole town renowned for its architecture to
one of the finest Roman engineering feats in England.
