Stuart joined North West Tonight shortly after the introduction of colour TV; well, a  long time ago, anyway.

As a reporter he's covered many of the region's biggest stories of recent year - the Louise Woodward trial in Boston, the Harold Shipman case and the break-up of Take That. He also stands in for Gordon Burns.

In August 2006 he undertook an epic journey around the edge of the North West, visiting parts of the region other reporters don't reach. He met some wonderful characters and battled with the unseasonal elements on more than one occasion.

His passion is Bolton Wanderers and he takes every opportunity to mention them on air.

In the North West Tonight office he sits next to Colin Sykes, Jayne Barrett and Dave Guest. Two of them never buy a tea round. Can you guess who?

Oh, he can also be heard occasionally moonlighting as a presenter on Radio Four's You and Yours.
