But you may not know that Gordon not only hosted the show, but helped shape the format and wrote the scripts.

Gordon, whose career began on newspapers in Northern Ireland has interviewed eight Prime Ministers.

He was also co-writer and presenter of Relatively Speaking and the parlour game A Word in Your Ear.

Gordon’s other credits include work for World in Action, Ulster Television and in radio, for the Today programme and Sports Report.

Married with a teenage daughter and a son that has followed him into television, Gordon watches football at Old Trafford and Anfield and is taking up golf.
