I was born in Liverpool. I went to school for a short time there but most of my education was in Runcorn in Cheshire.

My ambition had always been to become an actress. I was the annoying one who was in every school play. I was sent on lots of drama courses by my school and education authority.

After my A Levels I auditioned for RADA. They told me I was still young and needed to get some more life experience. So, I worked in a TV shop, a zip factory, a hair products factory and a squash club. By the end of it all I decided I'd skip drama school and go to University.

I studied English Lit and Theatre Studies in Liverpool. It was only then that I became interested in journalism. I did a year's post graduate course in Radio and TV journalism in Preston after University.

I freelanced in radio for a bit, worked at an independent radio station then got a job at BBC Radio Lancashire.

After reporting for a while, I then co-presented the breakfast show with Mike West for a few years.

Then onto North West Tonight. Started reporting, I now present the 1025 bulletin.
