Before leaving her previous
job as a reporter at BBC Hereford and Worcester her colleagues tried to cure her
arachnophobia by sending her to handle a tarantula at the West Midlands Safari
Park. The complete hysteria that followed has now earned her report a place in
the station's archives.
But it was newspapers that were Sarah's first
love, having started out in journalism as a cub reporter with the Kenilworth
Weekly News before progressing to the Coventry Evening Telegraph.
Before joining the Midlands Today newsroom Sarah presented programmes
and news on the BBC's Local Radio stations at Hereford and Worcester, Coventry
and Warwickshire and WM.
Born and brought up in Warwickshire, Sarah has
spent long periods of time working abroad - teaching in Spain and writing magazine
features in South Africa.
She now lives in North Worcestershire and
enjoys walking and mountain biking through its lovely countryside. BBC radio listeners
who remember how she struggled round the London Marathon in 1999 will be pleased
to hear that she hasn't been able to look at - never mind put on - her running
trainers yet!
