Patrick Burns - Political Editor
Patrick BurnsAfter completing a BBC News Traineeship in London and spending some time as a reporter in Northern Ireland Patrick joined Pebble Mill. Twenty years later, he currently keeps across political initiatives for both Midlands Today and the 30 minute weekly television documentary he presents, Midlands at Westminster.

He enjoys the opportunity to show how political initiatives taken at Westminster affect us here in the West Midlands. Determined to show that politics is not just about what happens in London, he aims to make the connection between the decision-makers and the people who voted them in.

Patrick particularly enjoys the thrill of live broadcasting, and is never happier than when talking to Midlands Today viewers about the latest developments in Parliament direct from the BBC's studios at Westminster. The day BMW confirmed they planned to sell off Rover Cars, he interviewed the Trade secretary Stephen Byers and the two MPs whose constituents had most at stake, live, on that famous green. This was one of Patrick's most memorable experiences.
