How safe are the region’s roads? Midlands Today devoted a week taking a close up look at road safety. A special series ran each night throughout the week covering a variety of issues.

How good is your driving? Let's face it we could all brush up on our driving skills. We challenge a two experienced motorists to take a mock driving. Will they pass or fail?

Pedestrian Friendly Cars

Cars are now being designed to lessen the injuries suffered by pedestrians when they're hit. The new Jaguar car has the world's first bonnet that lifts up to lessen the impact.

Speeding
We check the speed in a street where traffic is a major problem. We'll also show people how to check the street for themselves with a bicycle, a tape measure, a stopwatch, a notepad and a calculator.

Safer Streets
How to make roads safe without speed bumps. Psychological traffic calming could be the answer. First tried in Holland the measures include taking away road markings to make drivers feel unsafe.
