I
joined BBC Look North in July 2004 and after a stint at presenting
the breakfast bulletins I've now moved on to reporting.
Before coming up north, my career is twisty
tale of luck, good fortune, oh and some hard work of course.
It all started after I graduated from
Aberdeen University with a degree in Physical Geography. I
headed for London where I joined the Met Office working as
a Broadcast Assistant at the BBC Weather Centre. Most of my
time there was spent making tea for Michael Fish which was
fun, but eventually I had to earn a living.
I started to cover for the regional weather
presenters around the country. I even covered for Paul and
Lisa while they were on holiday, So, I knew what I was getting
myself into working with Peter Levy again.
My 'break' from the Met Office to the BBC
came when I joined South East Today as a reserve weather forecaster
and trainee journalist. I spent two fabulous years there but
when it came to doing the weather full time. I knew my heart
was in news so I took the plunge and headed to network where
I worked for the BBC Breakfast programme. I think the highlight
of my time at Breakfast had to be shaking hands with Roger
Moore. Now, I am delighted to be part of the news team in
Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire.
Away from work I love socialising with my
friends, especially at the pub where we take part in their
weekly quiz (although I've never won) and my favourite pastime
is going out for dinner.
A few other bits of random information: I
collect beer mats, love Thai food and am a huge Buffy the
Vampire Slayer fan.
