Presenter Profile - Rachel Dane

Rachel is a relatively new addition to the BBC Look East team, having started in March 2003. She is the BBC Look East breakfast presenter and reporter, doing each in two-week shifts.

She enjoys the variety of this dual-role, and doesn't even mind the 5am starts!

Working in broadcasting has seen Rachel move all over the country.

She started her broadcasting career in 1999, reading breakfast bulletins at Centre FM (a commercial radio station in Tamworth), before moving to BBC Radio Northampton three months later to become their east of region district reporter.

She then got a job working for BBC Look East as a video journalist in Milton Keynes, before moving to Norwich.

One of the more unusual things to happen to Rachel in the line of duty was narrowly escaping death by a blow-up bucking elephant!

She was doing a live lunch time show, and part of the broadcast involved inflating an eight-foot high elephant.

Rachel was almost crushed underneath it on live television as she tried to control the bucking animal which was growing bigger by the second!

When she's not risking her life for the greater cause, Rachel enjoys going to the theatre, reading, cinema, seeing friends and eating out.
