The Tour -The Satellite Truck

SNG with its mast up

The sat truck ready to send its signal back to Nottingham

The pride of the BBC in the East Midlands is our new hi-tech satellite truck.

It allows reporters to send live reports into the programme and gives immense flexibility to East Midlands Today.

From coverage of breaking news stories to live inserts from fairs, concerts or sports events, the SNG adds flair and immediacy.

To find out what's happening behind the scenes, try our who's who pages ...

then the full Monty on the SNG will then appear before your eyes.

The SNG -- or satellite newsgathering truck -- sends a signal from its dish via satellite back to the control centre in Nottingham.

It takes two operators to run the truck and a reporter and cameraman to provide the pictures.
