Presenter Profiles - Mark Shardlow

I got a tape recorder for Christmas.

Not to play music but to practice sports commentary.

From the age of nine my Saturday afternoon's were glued to Grandstand.

As soon as the tape recorder arrived the mornings were spent studying the horses, the names, the jockeys, the colours every detail so I could deliver the perfect commentary.
Mark Shardlow
Mark has also worked as acting editor of both Radio Derby and Radio Leicester

Mark Shardlow
Mark reports from sports stadiums all around the country

Midweek evenings I sat next to our old radio listening to crackly European commentaries on BBC Radio from Peter Jones, Maurice Edelstone and Bryon Butler.

Nine years later, I was in the press box at Nottingham Forest my first football commentary.

And for the last 20 years I've endured the highs and lows of East Midlands sport.
