Phillippa Denton

Phillippa Denton (Chair)

Phillippa lives in Rutland where she works in human resources. As the mother of two teenagers, she is especially concerned about learning and developing opportunities for young people. She enjoys dramas, documentaries and Dr Who and listens to Radio Five Live and Radio Leicester. Her other interests include watching rugby (Leicester Tigers), playing the piano very badly and walking two delinquent dogs.

Paul Dickerson

Paul Dickerson

Paul is a Principal Tutor in Swimming and Life Saving and an External Verifier for City and Guilds and the Amateur Swimming Association. He is a part-time Lecturer at South East Derbyshire College and has interests in music, sport, law education and the National Trust.

Nigel Hallam

Nigel Hallam

Nigel is a barrister and until recently was the Clerk to the Justices at the Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court. He now undertakes consultancy work. His interests include sports (he is a season ticket holder at Nottingham Forest), overseas travel, the First World War and local history.

Pip Ostell

Pip works as a nurse manager and is married with lots of animals. Her interests include gardening, eating out, theatre and cinema. She is vice chair of the governing body of a local junior school and also runs two websites. She works with people with learning disabilities and disadvantaged/vulnerable groups.

Katharine Stewart

Katharine Stewart

Katharine is a retired Hotel General Manager. Her interests are organising her local carnival and car shows, classic car rallying, the music business, watching sport and foreign travel. As a member of Lions International she fundraises for charity, her local Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Care.

Glennis Taylor

Glennis Taylor

Glennis is a partner in her own outside catering company. Her interests include cooking, charity fund raising, gardening, painting and walking. She is also keen on green issues.

Tracey Davenport

Tracey Davenport

Tracey works in commercial banking and watches all BBC channels along with Channel 4 and ITV as well as listening to various radio output. He enjoys business programmes, dramas, sports and travel shows. He is an American who moved back to the UK after living 4 years in Boston USA and permanently resides in Leicestershire.

Sarah McCann

Sarah McCann

Sarah is a Town Planner with the local authority. She tries to take part in local activities and take a role in the local community. Her interests are general fitness and healthy living, and watching and collecting movies. She would like the local news to be more accessible to everybody, especially young adults.

Jonathan English

Jonathan English

Jonathan is a young entrepreneur who runs his own business and is passionate about the internet, technology and IT. He enjoys evaluating business ideas and discussing new ideas with friends and family. He has lived in another European country (Spain) so appreciates how difficult it can be to integrate into another culture. As a young male, Jonathan has a good idea of what people his age enjoys doing. Jonathan also loves photography and cinematography.

Lillian Nevins

Lillian Nevins

Lillian is a retired nurse and an active member of the Church of England. She is a mother and a grandmother with a wealth of experiences to share. She enjoys films on the BBC (no adverts), documentaries and news. She also likes soaps. She is a volunteer for Leicestershire Aids Support Services and the Youth Offending Services. She enjoys working with young people particularly as she feels she has a lot to offer them in developing self awareness, self respect and respect for others.
