Arthur Allan is a 39-year-old freelance corporate writer from Edinburgh. He was attracted to the Alexei Sayle story beacuse of the wealth of possibilties it presented. He once did a course on erotic writing on a Greek island - he says it wasn't that erotic but it kick-started his passion for writing!
Ben Trevena Ben is a 37-year-old counsellor form Brighton. Ben has been writing since an early age, filling up many notebooks and floppy disks, but this is the first competition he's ever entered. Ben loves Alexei Sayle and decided to complete his story before he'd even read it.
Jeremy Dean Jeremy is a 29-year-old student from Bournemouth currently doing a conversion course in Psychology at the University of East London. His main hobby is writing - he's currently writing a novel and also a radio play about the world of internet dating!
Jo Scott Jo Scott is a self-employed heritage consultant, currently living in the Southampton area. She's a big Alexei Sayle fan and thinks that the opening story in Barcelona Plates is one of the best short stories she's ever read. An aspirant writer, Jo would love to take up writing full-time.
Julia Edwards Julia is 27 and is about to return to her job as a classical music tour co-ordinator. Passionate about writing, this is the first literary competition she's entered but she's also written a draft novel that she admits to not being very happy with! Her other interests include gardening and foreign travel.
Sarah Lisa Wilkinson Sarah is 24 and juggles her acting career with work in a call centre and she used the pseudonym Lisa Wilkinson when she entered the End of Story competition. She has written a stage play called 'A Woman Dangles' and her interests include going to the theatre and socialising.
