Metronomy perform for BBC Electric Proms 2009 in partnership with BBC New Music Shorts and 6 Music. Filmmakers were asked to submit ideas for an inventive and original short film inspired by the music of Metronomy and Florence and the Machine. BBC New Music shorts has commissioned Ninian Doff to make a short film inspired by Metronomy's On Dancefloors.
On Dancefloors is taken from second album Nights Out - a fizzing electro odyssey detailing a night on the town. Joseph Mount's deadpan delivery rides jerky funk and dayglo synths, telling tales of what happens on the dancefloor before the lights come on. Performing live, Metronomy field a full band featuring keyboards, melodica and sax. They're easy to spot with lamps strapped to their chests, complementing their luminous electro pop.
For BBC Electric Proms, Metronomy and Florence and the Machine perform in the Roundhouse's Studio Theatre, after the big screen premier of the films inspired by their music.
