Description:
|
Grimsby is dominated by fishing and the food industry, with its colleges having a worldwide reputation for their food and refrigeration courses. It is also one of the largest container ports in the country, but is not dominated by its docks, however, and the town has its attractive areas with wide, tree-lined roads leading to the centre. The chemical industry has been developed here in recent years, and trade, generally with Scandinavian countries, has been increased by the construction of the A180(M) link road. The seat is home to the highest proportions of both part-time and partly-skilled workers in England and Wales, but unemployment is also high. There are comparatively few professional or management/technical workers, and it is this statistic that limits Tory support most.
