Description:
|
The Boundary Commissioners have reunited Colchester - the larger part from the old seat of Colchester North and the rest from Colchester South and Maldon. Colchester has an above average share of the population aged between 16 and 24 according to the 1991 census - 15.1 percent compared to 12.7 in England and Wales ranking it 17th. There are more people of working age, more full-time employees and more unskilled than the average constituency. There are a large number of people living on their own - almost one quarter of all households according to the 1991 census (24.2%). This is explained by Colchester being both a University and garrison town.
