¿Está libre? Yes, a good place to start. At the airport you can usually just queue up at the rank but if you're trying to grab a taxi in town it is an important question to remember.
Now the easiest way I've found of saying where I want to go is by naming the place and saying "please" at the end
You:
Hotel Santo Domingo, por favor.
So that bit is quite straight-forward. But I wanted to know something else.
Taxi Driver:
Vale.
You:
¿Está lejos?
How much will it be?
Can I lie down?
Is it far?
