As in English, the general rule for making something plural in Spanish is to add an -s:
una tapa a small portion
tres tapas three small portions
un vino a glass of wine
dos vinos two glasses of wine
If the Spanish word ends in a consonant, you have to add -es:
una ración a portion
cinco raciones five portions
un hotel a hotel
dos hoteles two hotels
Un and una have plural forms, equivalent to some or a few in English:
unas aceitunas some olives
unos vinos a few wines
El and la also have a plural, unlike the English the:
el bocadillo the filled roll
los bocadillos the filled rolls
la ración the portion
las raciones the portions
