To view many of
the games on this site you need the Macromedia Shockwave
Director / Flash plug-in. Please note that the Crankophone
game, the Whirlyword game and the Star Words game require
Shockwave version 7 and Wordblender, the Sandcastle Quiz and Write A Postcard require Flash version
4. To view Magic Pencil you will require the Realplayer
version 5 or above.
There are a number of ways of getting the plug-ins you
need:
1. Use
'Get Shockwave' to visit the Macromedia Shockwave site
and download the Shockwave/Flash plug-in for free. Their
site offers plenty of advice and answers to common queries
about plug-ins.
To view Magic
Pencil you will need the Realplayer plugin which you
can download for free from here.
2. Many
internet magazines have the plug-ins on free CD Roms
they attach to each issue.
3. There
is detailed information about Shockwave on the BBC's
interactive
Help pages.
4. If
you've never downloaded anything from the internet before,
a good place to start would be
"Downloading for fun and profit." From
our beginners internet service: BBC
Webwise.
5. Your
final option would be to install the latest version
of your Internet browser. which have the plug-ins built
in. Visit the home pages of Microsoft
or Netscape.
