Classroom Ideas

This clip could be used to develop phonological awareness and phonics in order to hear and identify the 'oa' phoneme (as represented by the grapheme 'oa' as in road) in words and to identify rhymes. Get the children to give 'thumbs up' when the 'oa' sound or a rhyme is heard. Can the children find or think of any other words with 'oa' in? What are the other ways of representing this phoneme?
