Classroom Ideas

The clip provides an opportunity for in-depth class discussion regarding reasons for immigration. Divide the class into groups, each of which should investigate a particular country and the reasons why people left it for the USA. Groups should come up with a list of push and pull factors.
Students could also investigate reactions within the US to the arrival of immigrants from each nation. Ask how welcome people of different cultures and faiths were and if they were treated equally.
