Description

The Black Hills of Dakota were sacred territory for the Native Americans. However, even this land was soon to be taken from them as gold was discovered there. Annie Talent represents the pioneer attitude, that this resource was there to be exploited. This attitude is used to justify the disregard shown to treaties made between the American government and the Native Americans.
