Children look at ornaments and other artefacts and create memories for them to use as the basis for poems. The group share their own short poems inspired by the stimuli.

Using a range of artefacts, pupils could be asked to imagine that each artefact has a memory. Work with pupils to create a 'back story' for each artefact and use these memories and the stories of the artefacts as the basis for poems. Devices like reverse chronology could be used to tell the story of the object.
