The change from a deep river valley to a ria introduces the idea of how visual evidence can be found in present day landscapes. A look at evidence from tidal measurements, coral loss and submerging islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The causes of this sea level rise are discussed - melting of polar ice, thermal expansion of the oceans and water from melting mountain glaciers. No narration.

Could be used to supply the evidence for global warming, prior to examining its causes, impacts and management, in order to challenge sceptical viewpoints. Pupils could watch this clip after having watched the same clip with narration, and be challenged to write their own script for it. More able students might be shown the clip at the start of a lesson, then asked to think about what the script was, before being shown the clip with narration afterwards.
