Description

Sufi musician Riffat Salamat, sings and accompanies herself on a drum. She considers it necessary to study classical music to assimilate the basic music language. The footage includes a Sufi song performance with a jazz-inflected accompaniment. Sufi is a vibrant musical tradition stretching back more than 700 years. Originating in Pakistan, it is now famous throughout the world.
