A comparison of travel into Glasgow city centre by car, bus and train. Three families attempt to travel three miles from their homes to the centre of Glasgow. The cost and time of their journeys are compared. Although the car journey starts well it ends up being significantly more expensive and time consuming.
Pupils could look at the different journeys they take and the different transport they could use. A class survey of transport could then be used to compare different journey times and distances, in addition to the financial and environmental cost of each.
