Projectile motion could be looked into as part of a general discussion of gravity. First discuss the movement of objects falling vertically, moving on to objects thrown directly up into the air. From this basis, ask students to describe the movement of a car travelling off of the end of a table. Ensure the students understand that the horizontal and vertical motions are independent of each other.
