Description

Using the example of Jacqueline Wilson's 'The Bed and Breakfast Star', we are shown how to introduce a character into a story. We meet a girl called Elsa who is named after a lion due to her mane-like hair as a baby and the roaring sound she would make. We also discover what her school life is like, a glimpse into her personality and her family life.

Classroom Ideas

Can be used to model which information you might choose to add to a story when introducing a character. Notes could be made on what we discover about Elsa, and used as a model to complete background information for your own character. Can also be used as a story starter. Children could watch the clip about Elsa and continue their story using her as their main character, asking - what might happen next?
