Classroom Ideas

The first part of the clip could be used to introduce the importance of non-spoken language, such as gestures and facial expressions, which can be a hint or a hindrance as far as understanding is concerned. Teachers could draw on pupil experience of this. The information part could lead to a listening comprehension about the percentages of people from different countries who speak another language. The teacher could give pupils some different statistics for different countries to lead to a writing/speaking activity. Finally, the last part could be used as a 'find the French for...' activity, leading onto a speaking activity for pupils to express how well or how many languages they speak.
