Classroom Ideas

Could be used to introduce the book of the same name. Remind the class that children are the heroes and adults are the bad guys in most of Roald Dahl's books. Replay the description of Granny and how she threatens George with terrible things. Encourage discussion as to how this would make the children feel. Children can then create their own medicine for Granny using powerful adjectives, similes and metaphors to describe the ingredients and the results of taking a spoonful of the mixture. Model the first few ingredients using text from the book.
