Classroom Ideas

Can be used to introduce the poem, revise it or prompt different interpretations. Students can be asked to focus on different areas: themes (what it's about), tone (the moods expressed in this interpretation), structure (the way the filming picks out the narrative sequence) and language (students pick out words the actors emphasise). Students can then compare notes or watch again and change focus. Discussion of the choices for setting and character decisions (and their impact on meaning) can prompt group work suggesting other surprising interpretations and their performance.
