A look at the value to UK firms of switching production to a low-wage country. The example is shown of a large Yorkshire firm that moved its production of suits to Budapest. Hungarian wages are one-fifth of the rate paid in Yorkshire. The business is thriving and the local Hungarians are happy – until, perhaps, there's another move to an even cheaper supplier.
