A Victorian school diary records the illnesses and diseases that affected the pupils. Colds, infection, scarlet fever and cholera are among the afflictions recorded in the diary. In one case, a simple infection caused a child's death a few days later.

Classroom Ideas

This clip could be used so that groups can research the illnesses mentioned in the clip eg cholera and to find out if we still have the illnesses today. Classes could carry out a project into the different illnesses that they have had and compare them to Victorian child illnesses.
