The clip opens with the question, 'why do Christians call such a sad day Good Friday?' Two presenters briefly explain the events of Good Friday and the empty tomb, illustrated by actors depicting the scene. The symbol of the egg at Easter is then explained.

Discuss what Easter is and why it is celebrated. Discuss food eaten at Easter and how it is related to Easter eg chocolate eggs to represent new life, Simnell cake with 12 marzipan balls to represent the 12 disciples and hot cross buns with the symbol of the cross on. "Where did Jesus die? Why did Jesus die?" Use the clip to answer these questions. Decorate hard boiled eggs and have an egg rolling competition just like in the clip.

This clip follows on from three other clips explaining the events of Easter week, 'The riddle of Palm Sunday', 'The Last Supper' and 'The Crucifixion and Peter's denial'. It could be used in isolation to introduce Good Friday, and to look at Easter symbols such as the Easter egg. A more detailed exploration of the visit to the empty tomb might be useful and could be read using a child's Bible. Pupils could produce illustrations or storyboards of the event. They might explore definitions or give their own interpretations of the word 'good' before viewing, then discuss why it is called 'Good Friday'. Artwork using egg symbols to recap the Easter story could be developed - eg as a class, devise a list of keywords that tell part of the story - palm, supper, wine, Peter, cross etc. Decorate eggs with different words, then ask students to choose an egg to hold while explaining the significence of that word to the class.
