Description

A performance of Dave Heath's 'Free the Spirit' highlighting an emphasis on timbre, texture and rhythm rather than melody. An ensemble member demonstrates harsh scraping tones inspired by the sounds made by a drunken violinist on a train! The composer shows how overblowing into a flute can emphasise harmonics and radically alter the traditional sound.
