Description

In this clip, scientist Professor Richard Dawkins explains that the age of the universe is believed to be 14 billion years and no one knows exactly what happened at the Big Bang. He explains that physicists believe that there is no such thing as 'before' this event, precluding the existence of God. He then explains that physicists believe the laws of physics and time itself came into being after the Big Bang.

Classroom Ideas

Students could note down the main events of evolution as described in the rap at the beginning. They could then identify Richard Dawkins' main arguments and compare them to the arguments of a Creationist. What is the definition of the word 'beginning' and can students think of an event or experience that has no beginning?
