Classroom Ideas

Pupils can be shown this clip and use it to begin their research on the island of Trinidad. After viewing it, they could carry out additional research in books and the internet. Pupils could then be asked to show their understanding of what they have learnt by preparing a diary of a few days as if they were on the island. They could pretend that they are spending time with different families and describe some of the different cultures and rituals that they have witnessed in their writing. In their research they could focus on how and why different groups of people came to Trinidad and they could be asked to include this information in their writing.
