Ask the class to chant along with the rhyme as they watch the clip. They could follow the track of the magic pencil in the air with their fingers. After, children could take turns practising the letter formation while wearing a blindfold. Their classmates could encourage them by chanting the rhyme. The blindfold task is fun to do and refreshes the learning, but it also helps children focus on the feel of the pencil as it moves over the paper. When everyone has had a turn working blindfolded, ask pupils to practise writing 'ay' in the conventional way and compare the results.
