Malaria is endemic in many parts of the developing world. It causes around two million deaths a year and has a huge impact both personally and econimically. An animated sequence describes the spread of malaria and the role of the Anopheles mosquito in the malaria cycle.
Students could look at what malaria is, how it is transmitted and the impact it has. This would help inform a unit of work looking at the impact of disease and/or environmental factors (due to the habitat mosquitoes live in) on development.
