Time-lapse photography is used to record the process of fruit decaying in a fruit bowl. At the beginning the fruit is fresh but over time the mould and microorganisms gradually break it down.

This clip could be used when pupils are learning about microorganisms. This short clip speeds up the process and clearly shows the effects of food becoming mouldy. It would be good to play before pupils set up experiments of their own to see the effects of microorganisms. It might also be played as part of a plenary session to reinforce learning.
